Interested applicants fill out the answers to the questions below. If an internship is available, a phone interview is scheduled. Prior to filling the position, a personal interview and tour is usually recommended. At any time in the process, you are more than welcome to call with any questions you might have. We appreciate your answers to these questions. We will honor your sharing in whatever depth feels right for you.
What is your name, address, phone number, birth date, and e-mail address? {Please supply both your temporary contact information if you are in school or another internship program, as well as a permanent address that mail can be forwarded from.
Which position interests you the most? Visitor Services or Field Steward?
What are your availability dates?
What are your long-term goals and dreams in life? (practicality not necessary for this question)
What attracts you the most about this internship?
What is your academic background? Are you currently in school? If so, where? What are your current academic goals?
How would you describe your current relationship with nature?
Please describe the extent of your interest and experience in gardening and healthy cooking.
What has been the most transformational experience in your life to date?
What are some of the favorite books you have been reading?
What do you consider your special talents and gifts? This questions is not limited to academics. Please tell us about yourself. Include non-tangible virtues as well as practical ones
What practical skills do you already call your own? In addition, please let us know if you have any of the following skills -- these are often helpful to us but are certainly not required: carpentry, writing, grant-writing, in-depth computer skills, landscaping and small engine maintenance.
We realize you are coming here to learn, but do you have any background or special interests already developed in any earth stewardship and sustainability realms? Cooperative communities?
Would this internship be ideally associated with school credit? If so, what are your school requirements? (you can be brief here, we can discuss this in detail later)
Are you available for a personal interview at the Sanctuary? If so, are you flexible with dates?
Would you have access to a car during the internship?
